Rooibos (Burm.f.) R.Dahlgr., Also known as Afrikaans rooibos it is a plant belonging to the family Fabaceae; its leaves are used to prepare an infusion called rooibos, Red Bush or even African red tea.
The plant grows only in the Cederberg region in South Africa. The drink made from the leaves is always used by local people. The leaves, after harvesting, are crushed, fermented and dried. The drink is prepared for infusion, with somewhat later than the tea. In South Africa we use to drink it with milk and sugar, while elsewhere you drink without.
It has a slight taste reminiscent of hazelnut and mauve, with a sweet taste, even without the addition of sugar. The color is brownish red.
